I don’t do polls, but I’ll hand you my brackets. Keep in mind, this isn’t where I’m predicting these teams to go, it’s just where I would put them if I was the sole member of the committee.
EAST REGIONAL
#1 North Carolina – If they beat Duke next week in Cameron, the East will be painted in baby blue.
#2 Standford – It comes down to this, the winner of the Pac-10 stays out west. The loser comes East.
#3 Texas – I said they’d lose one more, they did. Now I’m saying they’ll lose another one in the Big Twelve tournament. I’m never wrong, except when I am.
#4 Michigan State – Indiana drops out and in moves the Spartans.
SOUTH REGIONAL
#1 Tennessee – Bruce Pearl tried to argue the #1 ranking despite the loss to Vandy. How about a #1 seed, Bruce.
#2 Wisconsin – Remember when Duke beat them in Cameron by 24? Seems like years ago.
#3 Georgetown – Is it cruel if the selection committee put the Hoyas in with Carolina again? For now, I have them not winning the Big East Tournament, and heading south.
#4 Butler – I hate to say it, who have they beaten? They’ve beaten two from the Big Ten and two from the ACC, but they are 0-1 against the CURRENT Top-25 (they lost to #21 Drake).
MIDWEST REGIONAL
#1 Memphis – They still lost to Tennessee at home, which keeps them out of the South.
#2 Kansas – They’ll need to win the Big Eight Twelve to stay close to home. It will be a huge advantage never to leave your time zone.
#3 Xavier – They’ll be a popular pick to get knocked out in the first round.
#4 Connecticut – Is the Big East really this good, or is it simply the fact they have about 47 teams in conference?
WEST REGIONAL
#1 UCLA – Is it me or does UCLA remind you of a certain team that kept losing in final fours in the late 80′s, early 90′s? If you don’t know, you’re on the wrong blog.
#2 Duke – If they lose to UNC at home and don’t win the ACC title, then they’ll be shipped out west, possibly falling to a 3rd seed.
#3 Louisville – Look for the Cardinals to take the Big East title in New York this year.
#4 Vanderbilt – A runner up spot in th SEC should be good enough for a top four seed.
